As a makeup artist, it is part of my responsibility to choose only the best products and fill my makeup kit with ones I know will make my client look their best. Brushes are key essentials to any makeup kit, let alone, to a professional one. These are the ones that actually apply products to the face, and how they perform can either make or break a look. It is therefore important to stock up on only the highest quality brushes to ensure that the looks I am able to create are nothing short of beautiful.
With regard to premium hand crafted and luxury makeup brushes, there is no denying that Japan is the mecca and Japanese brushes are truly the best of the best. As a makeup enthusiast, I have personally heard of many great things about Japanese makeup brushes, but have not had the chance to try them first hand. Why? Well, that’s mostly because Japanese brushes don’t really go for cheap and every time I do muster up the will (and funds) to try them, I eventually end up changing my mind and thinking of the many other makeup products I can buy if I skipped on these.
Fast forward to the present, I was fortunate to be given another opportunity to work with the team behind the Japanese beauty site, Datumou Recipe. The site’s content offers not only fun and interesting facts about Japanese beauty trends but more importantly, informative blog posts that will surely help you keep up and provide you with everything you need to know before you try them out for yourself. And I said another opportunity because they have previously tapped me to create a Japanese-inspired everyday makeup look for them, which you can read here.
This time around is much more special because it came with gifts!! They, together with their partner, Koyudo (a brand of Japanese makeup brushes) were kind enough to gift me with $200 worth of brushes to use and review.
I had so much fun doing this article and have learned so much about Japanese makeup brushes. If you’re interested to find out more about Japanese makeup brushes, the brand Koyudo, the brushes I chose, my experience with them as well as see the first look I was able to do with the brushes, then read on by clicking on the photo below :)
